Constable booked for molesting teenager

The Bhandup police on Monday booked a constable for allegedly molesting an 18-year-old girl two days ago. Police said accused Rameshwar Ghuge (26) and the victim met each other at a wedding in Satara last month and exchanged numbers.

“On Friday,the two met each other near the Dreams Mall in Bhandup around 12:30 pm. The victim alleged that he forced her into an autorickshaw and took her to Powai Garden. While returning from there,victim said that Ghuge touched her inappropriately and then dropped her near the Bhandup railway station,” said senior inspector Shrirang Nadgauda.

The victim went home and approached Bhandup police on Monday.

Ghuge was booked for kidnapping and outraging the modesty of a woman. Police said he will be arrested only after the complainant’s version has been verified.

Police are checking call data records of Ghuge and the victim to check their locations on the day of the alleged offense.

“Ghuge is currently posted with the Local Arms 4 division,while the victim is a college student,” Nadgauda added.
