Congress candidate Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan. (Photo Credit: Facebook)The Congress has declared Ravindra Vasant Chavan as its candidate for the Nanded Lok Sabha by-election, to be held along with the state assembly polls on November 20.
The bypolls in Nanded seat was necessitated following the demise of elected MP and senior Congress leader Vasant Chavan on August 26. Ravindra is a son of the deceased MP.
In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Vasant Chavan defeated BJP’s sitting MP Prataprao Chikhlikar in Nanded.
Prior to the Lok Sabha polls, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
