A five-year-old boy was electrocuted after he came in contact with a machine kept at a closed sugarcane juice shop in Agripada on Sunday evening.

A five-year-old boy was electrocuted after he came in contact with a machine kept at a closed sugarcane juice shop in Agripada on Sunday evening. The deceased,Sameer Shaikh,used to live in the slums opposite the Salvation Army office on the Maulana Azad Road. Police officers said the boy and his friend Wasim were going to the public urinal when the incident occurred. Sameer was rushed to hospital where he died,said senior police inspector Pravin Gosavi of Agripada police station. Wasim escaped with minor injuries and is being treated at Nair Hospital. “We have registered a case of negligence against the owner of the juice shop,” said Gosavi. Sameer’s mother,a widow,works as a domestic help.
