TISS study on facilities at old age homes

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences has initiated a study on the minimum facilities that an old age homes should provide its residents. “We will study old age homes in Mumbai and Pune as a pilot research. There is very little input from the government on homes for senior citizens. Most of them are run by private organisations and a majority function on charity. Some are run like religious ashrams, others work as leisure and recreational facilities. There are no minimum standards that are prescribed by the state,” said TISS professor Nasreen Rustomfram.
