THE MUMBAI crime branch on Saturday arrested the person who allegedly supplied narcotics to Borivali-based bakery owner Anthony Paul, who allegedly framed actor Chrissann Pereira in a drugs case.
The accused was identified as Shantilal Rajput, a local electrician.
A police officer said, “Rajput had worked at the residence of Paul. Paul knew that he also supplied narcotics and hence took his help to procure the narcotics that he used to either hide in trophies or cake of unsuspecting victims who he wanted to get back at.”
The police will be producing Rajput before the court to seek his custody.
Rajput is the third person to be arrested in the case in which one Rajesh Borate along with Paul have been arrested earlier.
According to police, Paul made attempts to frame five people whom he wanted to take revenge of which two attempts were successful.
Paul would offer these people jobs in Sharjah and would give them drugs hidden in trophies or cakes.
While Pereira was granted bail by Sharjah police, she is yet to get back her passport.
A probe by Mumbai Crime Branch had revealed that Paul was allegedly upset with Pereira’s mother over a fight they had during Covid and planned this as revenge.
