Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday said the government had decided to leave policy decisions on important projects including the Worli-Haji Ali Sea-link to the next government. He,however,sought a Central assistance of Rs 15,000 crore from the Centre to tide over the drought situation. He said decisions on redevelopment of the mantralaya,Dharavi Redevlopment Project and the Worli-Haji Ali Link would be taken only after the elections. Chavan sought to clarify that he had not yet received the file related to mantralaya redevelopment. Important decisions will be taken by the new government on merit. These are major decisions that need proper scrutiny, said Chavan. Chavans statement comes after 10 cabinet meetings held within a month. Outlining the decisions taken in the meetings to tackle price rise,infrastructure and swine flu,Chavan said the government has taken measures to help people and sought to assure people that swine flu was under control. To implement its recent decision to regularise slums till 2000,Chavan said the government has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. The government,meanwhile,is aiming to raise the per capita income in the state to Rs 1 lakh in the next five years,projects worth Rs 50,000 crore have been undertaken for the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The 50 flyovers in Mumbai to ensure better connectivity will be completed by December,said Chavan. In view of the drought situation in the country,the Congress Working Committee has announced that all its office-bearers,corporators,MLAs,MLCs and MPs would accept a 20 per cent cut in their salary. CM Chavan said that he would forego one months salary for drought relief.
