This year, around 13,65,488 candidates appeared for CBSE Class X board exam of which 13,28,935 passed.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of class X board examinations on Thursday, in all ten regions across the country, ending days of anxiety for about 1,42,075 students.

The Chennai region that includes Mumbai secured second position by registering a pass percentage of 99.03 per cent.

Over 13 lakh students had appeared for the CBSE Class X examinations this year. The results, supposed to be declared two days ago, were postponed as the board wanted to release results of all ten centres at the same time. Last year the results for all regions were announced on May 21. In the past years, students from the Chennai region, of which Maharashtra is a part, would receive their results a day earlier. The overall pass percentage, across centres, has declined this year. From 98.87% in 2014, the pass percentage has gone down to 97.32% this year.
