Cathedral squeeze through in high-scoring thriller

Darren D’Sa and Samson Creado scored a goal each to lead St Paul’s from Dadar into the next round of the Ahmed Sailor Knockout Tournament at the Castrol-Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) centre at Azad Maidan on Tuesday. St Paul’s were comfortable 2-0 winners against Activity School from Peddar Road.

The Catherdral & John Connon from Fort,however,had to huff and puff towards a sensational victory in a match that witnessed goals galore with the final score reading 5-3. Yaazd Contractor,Siddhant Chaddha,Amaan Jaikishan,Ammar Bantwala and Aryaman Wasan were the goal-scorers for Cathedral but St Theresa had their own star in Aditya Jambhle who kept his team in the match with a brace. Greenlawns overcame Navy Children,meanwhile in an exciting penalty-shootout,where they gunned down their opponents with a 4-3 score-line. Aman Jain,Suraj Kapur,Rushab Parekh and Rohan Joshi were successful in front of goal,while Sridhar Kumar,Akshaj Saini and Aman Rajput scored from the penalty-spot for Navy Children.

Our Lady of Dolours,Children’s Academy share hockey trophy

Our Lady of Dolours HS (Marine Lines) and Children’s Academy (Malad) were declared joint winners of the Late Major Dhyan Chand Inter School Hockey Tournament 2011 in the Boy’s Under-16 category. The Girls under-16 category too had the same pattern when Guru Nanak Secondary High School (GTB Nagar) and Duruello Convent H.S (Bandra) shared the honours in the tournament played at the MHA Stadium,Churchgate. The joint winner’s decision was taken due to the heavy rains and unplayable condition of the ground. The recently held Junior National runners-up Mumbai team were also felicitated.
