A traffic constable posted with the Bandra division was injured when a speeding car rammed into him near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Saturday.
This is the third instance in a week in which a traffic constable has been hit by a speeding vehicle.
Constable Pramod Patil (34) was on his way to the traffic division office in Bandra on his motorcycle when the car rammed into him.
He was on his way to relieve a colleague from duty. As Patil turned towards the traffic division office,a speeding Tata Indica which was coming from the wrong side rammed into him around 3.20 pm. He was thrown off his bike and suffered injuries, said an officer.
Patil was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. He has suffered injuries to his left knee and lower back. Doctors said his condition is being monitored, the officer said.
We have arrested the driver,Dhondiram Chavan (38),who was on the wrong side of the road and was speeding, said the officer. Chavan,a resident of Pune,has been booked for rash and negligent driving.
Further investigations into the case are on, said the officer.
