Campus Talk | Maharashtra reschedules 3-year LLB CET dates to avoid clash with Mumbai University exams
The Common Entrance Test for the 3-year LLB, one of the most popular professional courses in Maharashtra, was earlier scheduled for March 20 and 21.

Maharashtra’s Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has rescheduled the 3-year LLB CET from March 20 and 21 to May 3 and 4, after multiple candidates raised concerns about a clash with the dates of some Mumbai University exams.
The 3-year LLB is one of the most popular professional courses in the state. During the 2024-25 admission cycle, over 80,000 candidates registered for the CET, with nearly 70,000 appearing for the exam.
An official from the CET Cell explained, “With such high participation, it was essential to accommodate students’ needs and ensure that the exam dates did not interfere with other academic commitments.”
The rescheduling ensures that students can take both their Mumbai University exams and the CET.
“As the timetable was announced, we quickly received requests from candidates asking for a change in the 3-year LLB CET dates due to the overlap with Mumbai University exams. Understanding their concerns, we decided to reschedule the exam to ensure a smoother admission process for students,” said the official.
For the upcoming academic cycle, the Cell has already released CET timetables for various professional courses. Most of these exams have been scheduled earlier this year to facilitate timely admissions, ensuring that the new academic year can begin on schedule.
Deadline extended
The CET Cell has extended to March 20 the deadline for online registration and application form submission for undergraduate CETs, including for Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) as well as integrated courses like Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)/MBA and BCA/MCA.
“This is only the second year of this CET. Last year, we had to conduct two CETs as very few students had registered due to a lack of awareness about the requirement of CET for admission to these popular UG courses. To address this, the CET Cell recently held a webinar with teachers across Maharashtra to create awareness about the CET. We learned that many students prefer to explore higher education options after their Class 12 exams, and thus, the decision was made to extend the registration window,” the CET Cell official said.
