Businessman dies by suicide after shooting himself: Police
The police have seized a country-made pistol and cartridges from the scene of the incident. No suicide note was found at the location.
The police have registered an accidental death report and are conducting further investigations. A 52-year-old businessman, Mohammed Iqbal Siwani, allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with a country-made pistol on Friday night.
Preliminary investigations suggest Siwani, a resident of Mazgaon, was suffering from depression due to financial losses in his business and was in debt.
According to the police, Siwani, who was involved in transport and import-export business, allegedly shot himself in the head at his office in Ameen Building, located in the Bhendi Bazaar area of South Mumbai. People present in the building rushed him to Sir JJ Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have seized a country-made pistol and cartridges from the scene of the incident. No suicide note was found at the location.
During the preliminary inquiry, police learned that Siwani was under severe mental pressure due to financial losses. The exact reason behind the incident will be determined after recording the statements of Siwani’s family members and his office staff, a police officer stated.
