Builder’s office vandalised after he complained against MNS workers

“The assailants broke the glass front doors and smashed furniture, glass tops and computers inside. None of the staff working in the office was hurt,” said Suhas Bavche, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Mira Road.

Bavche added that a complaint had been registered against the men for rioting and causing damage to property. No arrests have been made so far.

The incident, Bavche said, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the office.

“Using the footage, we identified seven of the attackers. We have formed teams of police officers to track down the attackers,” Bavche said.

The attack, the officer said, was prompted by a police complaint the builder filed against the MNS workers last month.

According to Bavche, the builder owns a plot of land in Kashimira locality.

The MNS men, he said, had illegally constructed a small shed there last month and turned it into a free newspaper reading gallery. The builder complained about the encroachment to the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, which subsequently got it demolished.

However, on February 25, the builder also lodged a complaint against the workers at Kashimira police station.

“They (the workers) were angry that a police complaint had been filed against them,” Bavche said.
