Man held for friend’s murder
The Bandra police have arrested a driver,Mohammad Khan,25,for allegedly murdering his friend,Mohammad. Police said Khan killed Latif as he suspected him of having an affairwith his mother. Latif was found injured. “Police rushed him to hospital but he was declared brought dead,” said Assistant inspector Anil Badgujar.

Toll collection on BWSL: 2 firms in fray
Two private firms,Mumbai Entry Point Ltd and Konark Infrastructure,are in the race to get toll collection rights on the Bandra Worli Sea Link. They were the only companies to submit bids till Friday. MEPL collects the toll now.

No new bus passes from August 1
The BEST has asked Kaizen,the firm that operates monthly Smart Card bus passes,to stop issuing fresh passes from August 1. Passes for schoolchildren would continue to be issued till August 31. “Conductors had cited problems in validators used to check passes,resulting in losses. We asked Kaizen to rectify it,” said BEST Committee Chairman Sanjay Potnis.
