In a rebellion, BJP’s Buldhana poll in-charge files nomination against Mahayuti’s official candidate from Sena

Unwilling to accept the Sena (Shinde faction) candidate the unit expressed its discontent by fielding a rebel candidate in Vijayraj Shinde.

The Shiv Sena and BJP are locked in an internal fight in Buldhana Lok Sabha constituency in Vidarbha after BJP Buldhana poll-incharge Vijayraj Shinde on Monday filed his nomination.

The Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has already announced the name of sitting (MP) Pratap Jadhav as its official candidate for Buldhana seat. However, the BJP unit in Buldhana had expressed unhappiness.

Unwilling to accept the Sena (Shinde faction) candidate the unit expressed its discontent by fielding a rebel candidate in Vijayraj Shinde.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shinde was confronted with an inhouse challenge when MLA Sanjay Gaikwad filed his nomination without the party’s consent.

After a series of discussions Shinde prevailed and decided to retain the sitting MP Pratap Jadhav as the candidate.

In 2019, Pratap Jadhav won the seat defeating the then undivided NCP candidate Rajendra Shingne.

Jadhav had contested and won from Buldhana Seat in the 2009, 2014 and 2019 elections.

A senior BJP leader requesting anonymity said, “In seat sharing, Buldhana was conceded to Shinde Shiv Sena as it had a sitting member. But that has not gone well with our local unit. Their anger is against Jadhav.”
