The Bhoiwada police on Sunday arrested two men for firing at a wine shop manager. The manager was severely injured in the incident that occurred in July. Apart from the duo,who had fired at the shop manager, police arrested a salon owner,Prabhoday Sharma, also for his role in the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Sanjay Baviskar said,After the firing incident,we made photographs of the images derived from the CCTV cameras installed in the shop. Acting on a tip-off,our team arrested the trio on Sunday for attempt to robbery and under sections of the Arms Act.
The arrested have been identified as Krishnanand Pradhan (25),Subhash Jaina (20) and Prabhoday Sharma. Police said Sharma was lured by the prospect of making some money easily and roped in two other persons for robbing the wine shop. Sharma arranged Rs 15,000 to buy a country-made revolver and handed it over to Pradhan. It was Pradhan who had fired at Ajit Panjwani, the manager of the shop.
Panjwani was at the counter when a youth approached him and asked for a bottle of vodka. When Panjwani turned to fetch the bottle, another man entered the shop and fired two rounds at him, injuring him in his shoulder and hip, police said. The assailants managed to escape the spot though a cop chased them. Incidentally, the same wine shop was targeted twice earlier this year. In February, around Rs 15,000 was stolen from the shop and a month ago armed robbers had looted Rs 1.75 lakh from the same shop. Police do not believe that the trio had roles in the earlier incidents.
