Work on the city’s largest redevelopment project, the metamorphosis of Bhendi Bazaar, got underway with the project having received the final set of clearances from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to begin construction in the first phase. The corporation granted a commencement certificate to Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT), implementing the Bhendi Bazaar makeover for its first phase of two clusters, comprising four buildings.
Abbas Master, chief executive at SBUT, said, “We received the last clearance last month. We have already started construction work, focusing on piling and excavation. We hope to complete the first phase of the project in three years. Simultaneously, we will get approvals for other phases.”
