BEST introduces new bus pass tariff from today
The revamped bus pass scheme of BEST offers enhanced benefits for commuters opting for weekly, monthly, and daily passes.

Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Mumbai public transport service provider, has introduced a revamped bus pass scheme that offers enhanced benefits for commuters opting for weekly, monthly, and daily passes with effect from Friday, March 1.
Under the new scheme, a seven-day bus pass, offering 15 trips at a ticket rate of Rs 6, will cost Rs 70. For a ticket priced at Rs 25 fare, the pass is priced at Rs 350. Similarly, for a ticket priced at Rs 13, the pass will cost Rs 175, while for the one priced at Rs 19, the pass will cost Rs 265, and for a ticket priced at Rs 25, the pass will be Rs 350.
Previously, the weekly pass rates were Rs 59 (for ticket price Rs 6), Rs 159 (for ticket price Rs 13), Rs 229 (for ticket price Rs 19), and Rs 299 (for ticket price Rs 25) respectively.
The monthly pass now offers trip sizes of 60, 100, and 150. For 60 trips on a 28-day pass, the cost ranges from Rs 300 (for a minimum ticket fare of Rs 6) to Rs 1,350 (for a ticket of Rs 25). Similarly, for 100 trips, the pass costs Rs 450 for a Rs 6 ticket and up to Rs 2,200 for a Rs 25 ticket. For 150 trips, the pass ranges from Rs 600 (ticket price of Rs 6) to Rs 2,700 (ticket of Rs 25).
The revised pass for an unlimited number of trips for one day will cost Rs 60, and for 30 days, it will cost Rs 900. Previously, these passes were priced at Rs 50 and Rs 750 respectively.
According to a spokesperson from BEST, the revised bus pass scheme aims to address the challenge of providing change money to commuters by rounding off the pass fares.
However, the fare structure revision comes within a year of the introduction of the previous fare which was implemented in April last year.
Also the ticket prices for AC and non-AC buses remain unchanged at Rs 6 and Rs 5 respectively. Additionally, students and senior citizens will continue to benefit from subsidised pass rates.
