Accused of beating up man in Thane, 3 men forced to apologise by Shiv Sena (UBT) workers; Aaditya Thackeray says ‘don’t give issue linguistic colour’
A viral video shows the three men, who purportedly do not speak Marathi, being asked to speak in Marathi.

A couple of days after the video of a man being beaten up outside the Thane railway station went viral, another video of the three men who were involved in the fight with him apologising to the victim surfaced on Wednesday.
The man who was beaten up outside the Thane railway station was identified as Kiran Jadhav, 43. Shiv Sena (UBT) workers took Jadhav to the Thane Civil Hospital for treatment and to the Naupada police station to register the FIR in the matter against the three accused – Shanmukh Pujari, Saurabh Jaiswal, and Jayantilal Purohit.
In the second video, the three men, who purportedly do not speak Marathi, are asked to speak in Marathi by Shiv Sena (UBT) workers. This video was reportedly filmed in the presence of former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Rajan Vichare inside a closed room and shared later. The three accused persons were reportedly brought to an office, told to identify themselves, fall at the feet of Jadhav, and apologise to him on camera.
Jadhav can also be seen slapping one of the accused after being nudged by someone. Later in the video, Vichare is heard telling the three men that “they beat up a Marathi manoos, and this will not work in Maharashtra.”
Talking about Monday’s assault, a police officer said the FIR was registered on charges of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons. He added that Jadhav went to recharge his SIM card in an inebriated condition.
“When the shopkeeper said they did not have a recharge facility and it must be done online, it led to an argument between the two sides, which resulted in a fight where Jadhav was beaten up,” the officer further said.
The police had issued a notice to the three accused persons and allowed them to leave. Thereafter, several Shiv Sena (UBT) workers gathered at the Naupada police station in solidarity with Jadhav.
However, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray said the controversy is not linked to the ‘Marathi-non Marathi’ issue. “There was an altercation over a disagreement in a shop over the charging of a phone. This has been mentioned in the FIR as well. It has nothing to do with the language of either of the parties. I urge all not to give it the colour of any dispute over language.”
