Bank executive had applied for job in Kolkata days before death

The police said that Mukherjee’s parents wanted to get her married and hence were eager for her to come back to Kolkata. Mukherjee’s decomposed body was found in her flat after residents of Gokul Horizon in Thakur Village complained of a stink emanating from her apartment. Also,her employers and family from Kolkata informed her landlord that she was not receiving calls since many days. Later,the landlord informed the police,after which the cops broke open the door and discovered her body. The police also found a laptop and cigarette butts around her body.

The police have registered a case of accidental death,and actual cause of death is not yet known. An official from the police station said,“It seems that her death was caused by a sudden heart attack,which might have been caused by excessive smoking. The number of cigarette butts that we found lying near her body seems to suggest that she smoked heavily.” However,the police rule out any possibility of suicide. “She was very close to her father and would discuss everything with him. And her father has said that she never told him about anything that might have compelled her to commit suicide,” Mulay said.
