Gangsters party: DCP Milind to probe charges against suspended cops
The probe against the five policemen,who attended the Christmas party thrown by Chhota Rajan aides,has been handed over to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Milind Bharambe.
The five policemen DCP V N Salve,ACP Prakash Wani,Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Khakale,Assistant Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar and constable Rajendra Ghorpade – have already been suspended for attending the party. The party was held on December 25 at the Chembur gymkhana and was said to have been hosted by Paulson Joseph,a Rajan aide.
The other close aides of Rajan such as D K Rao,Farid Tanasha and Sunil Poddar were also present at the party.
The Mumbai Police have collected 355 incriminating photographs of the party including the ones showing the said cops in attendance. They have also collected CCTV footage from the club.
Three open fire at real estate agent
Three men opened fire at a real estate agent at Oshiwara on Friday,police said. People nabbed one of them and handed him over to the police. Shabbir Memon (31) of Jogeshwari was driving near the Raghvendra Swami temple,when three men on a bike fired at him. Memon escaped. The bullets hit his car. Two of them escaped but the third,Mohammed Tabrez Azhar (26),was nabbed, said Assistant Commissioner of Police,Dilip Suryavanshi.
The police said they recovered a pistol and six live rounds from Azhar,who is from Jharkhand. There are many criminal cases registered against him in several police stations of the city. Property dispute seems to be the motive. Preliminary investigation shows they had come to kill Memon, police said.
