Superstar Amitabh Bachchans blog on flooding outside his home and office had civic officials calling on him on Thursday night,with explanations on why Juhu is prone to flooding,promises on long-term plans to ease the problem and requests to blog again,this time on the promised plans.

An impressed Bachchan responded with a blog on storm water management. He listed the reasons for flooding: massive development,a combination of heavy rainfall and high tide,and flooding of natural canals with effluents and waste.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said they had been disturbed by the earlier blog and given him an hour-long presentation on storm water drains. I gave him a presentation on the BRIMSTOWAD project and explained how it will solve the problem once completed. We explained the current drainage system and how the rapid and unchecked development has resulted in load on the infrastructure, said R A Rajeev,Additional Municipal Commissioner.

Rajeev said the actor was happy to know about the plans and proposals. He said that if completion of Irla pumping station scheduled in a years time will solve Juhus problem,then it would be worth a wait… We are happy that he has written about the BRIMSTOWAD project on his blog. We have been repeatedly informing citizens about the measures,but it makes a difference when a person of Mr Bachchans stature writes about it, said Rajeev.
