Delhi-based designer duo Ankur and Priyanka Modi launched their first store in Mumbai last weekend. The duo,who have been eyeing the city for a while now zeroed in on a location in the suburbs. We had been wanting to launch our store in Mumbai for quite some time now but somehow the time was never right. Initially,we were keen on having our first store in South Mumbai alongside those of other Delhi-based designers. But after the recent blasts in South Mumbai,we decided upon the suburbs (Khar) over The Courtyard in Colaba, explains Priyanka.
The store is called AM:PM,named after the initials of the designer couple.
They will,however,continue to retail out of other stores in the city which stock their label. We have had a healthy relationship with all the Mumbai stores and will continue to sell out of there too. By launching our first store in the city,we are just streamlining the process for our clientele here, she says.
Apart from clothes,AM:PM will stock their footwear creations. The idea is to create a whole look for the customers and cater to all their needs under one roof.
Not surprisingly,the launch,a wine and champagne evening,co-hosted by a fashion magazine was fun. Guests included Mumbai socialites Divya Thakur,Simone Singh,Haseena Jethmalani and designers Malini Aggarwala,Nachiket Barve.
