Mumbai Police are analysing multiple monetary transactions between the bank accounts of Air India pilot Srishti Tuli and that of her accused boyfriend Aditya Rakesh Pandit, 27, and his family members.

Tuli’s family claims that multiple transactions worth nearly Rs 70,000 have been made in less than a month. While the family suspects that the accused was blackmailing Tuli over some issue and was extracting money from her, the investigators said they are analysing the bank transactions and are looking into these fresh allegations.

Tuli, a Gorakhpur resident, was found dead in her rented accommodation behind Marol Police Camp in Andheri (East) on November 25. Initial inquiries indicate she was mentally disturbed due to Pandit’s alleged harassment, police said.

Pandit, who is from Faridabad-NCR, had been preparing for the pilot’s exam but had failed to qualify. He was arrested on November 26 and after remaining in police custody for six days on Monday, was sent to judicial custody by the Andheri court.

Tuli’s uncle Vivek Kumar Tuli, 57, who is the complainant in the case, told The Indian Express that there are multiple transactions from his niece’s account to Pandit’s family member’s accounts.

“On October 31, Pandit bought some clothes from a showroom in Faridabad and sent a QR code to Tuli to make the payment. He then asked her to send Rs 15,000 into his sister’s account. After this, during Diwali on November 5, he asked Srishti (Tuli) to send Rs 50,000 into the account of his sister’s fiancee. Why would someone spend their hard-earned money on someone else’s family and relatives. We strongly suspect that she was forced to make these transactions as she was probably blackmailed. Though we don’t know the reason, the police must probe this angle. We have already submitted details of these transactions,” said Vivek Kumar. He further said there are multiple other transactions but we will present them to the police at a later stage.

A preliminary police probe revealed that when Tuli returned home after work on Sunday, she had an argument with Pandit. Around 1 am, Pandit reportedly left for Delhi in a car. Tuli called him on his phone and allegedly told him that she was going to take the extreme step. When he paid no heed to her threats, she made a video call to him to show how she was going to take her life.

As per police, Pandit then returned to her place but found the door locked from inside. He called a locksmith, got the room opened and found her unresponsive. She had allegedly hanged herself with a data cable, officers said.

Pandit rushed Tuli to Seven Hills Hospital in Marol, where she was declared dead. Her family and police were informed thereon. As per a preliminary probe, a fight between the two triggered the young pilot to take the extreme step.

Pandit was charged for abetting the alleged suicide of Tuli. He is currently in jail.
