Landslide in Adoshi blocks traffic on Mumbai-Pune expressway for hours
While no injuries were reported in the incident, the boulders and rocks partially blocked the Pune-Mumbai lane at Adoshi village.

Hours after a minor landslide was reported on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway at Adoshi in Raigad district, the Maharashtra Highway Police said that vehicular movement towards Mumbai was diverted via the Pune-Mumbai Old Highway and heavy vehicles were stopped from proceeding between noon and 2 pm to facilitate works to remove loose soil and boulders.
According to the highway police officials, several loosened boulders came down rolling around 10.30 pm on Sunday after a spell of incessant rain in the region.
While no injuries were reported in the incident, the boulders and rocks partially blocked the Pune-Mumbai lane at Adoshi village.
Lata Phad, superintendent of police for Pune division of State Highway Police, said, “The traffic diversions were implemented for the Pune to Mumbai corridor between 12 noon and 2 pm. Cars have been diverted from Khandala via the Old Highway, and heavy vehicles have been stopped. Once the loosened boulders are removed, traffic will resume.”
Commuters, who were stuck in the traffic jam for hours, took to social media to complain about their harrowing experiences.
“The Pune-Mumbai Expressway totally jammed. Children are starving. Traffic police should atleast make a provision for taking a U-turn,” wrote Amarpreet, a businessman.
“We are stuck just near the start of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Please provide urgent help!” wrote Haamid Majoria, another Twitter user.
Tejas Jambale, another user who took the Old Highway from Pune to Mumbai on Monday morning, posted, “Those travelling from Pune to Mumbai, should take the old highway. A heavy traffic jam on the expressway due to a landslide.”
