Aaditya rally holds up traffic

A day after his rally from the Sena Bhavan in Dadar,son of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and the face of Yuva Sena,Aaditya Thackeray,undertook his maiden rally in the Marathi heartlands of Parel,Lalbaug,Bharatmata and Sewri areas. The rally,caused traffic snarls along its route and most at the G D Ambedkar Road in Parel. While big Sena rallies are largely limited to areas dominated by Marathi speaking population,Thackeray also toured Imamwada,Umerkhadi,Kumbharwad and Dongri which are strongholds of the Congress,mostly inhabited by minorities. Yuva Sena member Suraj Chavansaid they were surprised by the response from these areas. Wards 221 (Imamwada-Dongri) and 211 (Willingdon Club-Bhatia Hospital Tardeo) are the two current Congress seats and traditional Congress strongholds that Aaditya rallied in. Yogesh Bhoite,a Sena supporter,said Marathi youngsters are getting more attracted to politics and the Sena since the entry of junior Thackeray. Another Sena supporter,Sachin Gawde,said extra support was mobilised by residents in Parel,Worli and Lalbaug areas since Congressman Nitesh Rane’s Swabhimaan Sanghatna was to enact ‘street plays in the area against corruption in the BMC. In the Sena bastions of Parel,Bhoiwada and Lalbaug,hundreds of Sena supporters took to the streets on bikes with saffron flags. Along with most internal roads in these areas,parts of P D’Mello road at Sewri saw traffic snarls.
