According to an official from the Public Health Department, Covid-19 is at the endemic stage in the country when an infection remain restricted to a particular region whereas during a pandemic, the infection spreads to a bigger area or even worldwide.
“Coronavirus cases are rising across the country, mostly driven by the XBB.1.16 subvariant of Omicron. But there is no need to worry as hospitalisation is still low,” added the officer.
