A Four-Year-Old girl from Kandivali was killed on Sunday evening after a four-foot tall mannequin kept outside the Kora Kendra Hall in Borivali fell on her head.

Police officers from the Borivali police station registered a case of accidental death in the matter.

A police officer said,“The incident happened around 7 pm on Sunday. Vishwa Mehta (4),the victim, and her family had come to the Kora Kendra Hall in Borivali west for attending a condolence meeting around 5 pm. While all the people attending the meet were sitting inside,Vishwa stepped out of the hall and started playing in the corridor.”

The hall, which is used for social functions, also has a couple of four-foot wooden mannequins in the form of royal guards, which are kept on either side of the entrance door during weddings.

On Sunday night, they were kept a few feet away from the entrance. “While playing,Vishwa went near one of the mannequins and possibly bumped into it,causing it to fall on her,” said one of the staff members.

Vishwa was rushed to a private hospital nearby by her family members, but was declared dead on arrival and the police were informed.

Police officers from the Borivali police station said,“So far,we have registered a case of accidental death and enquiries are on to verify if any negligence on the part of the hall staff was evident. If we come across any such evidence, further action would be taken.”
