Three,including a girl,were injured when two cars they were reportedly racing crashed against each other on the Worli seaface in the early hours of Friday. The occupants of the cars were injured and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Two of the injured were identified as Jameer Pitalwala (18) and Fiazal Patel. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Kishor Jadhav said the accident occured because the two cars were racing each other.
We suspect this accident took place as the youngsters were racing. We do not know if they were in an inebriated state at the time of the accident. Medical reports are awaited, said Jadhav.
Witnesses have told the police the cars,a Honda Civic and a Honda City,were racing at high speed. The three injured have also been booked under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt).
