According to police, Ramzan Abdul Hamid, was murdered after he allegedly got into a fight with the two minors — aged 15 and 16 — over getting a matchbox to light a cigarette.
A case of murder was registered with Mankhurd police station and the two juveniles were sent to the Dongri Observation Home.
An officer said that the incident took place Monday morning when Hamid, who is unemployed, came to a shop in Sathe Nagar area of Mankhurd. The juveniles who were standing there got into an argument with Hamid over passing the matchbox.
Hamid pushed the two minors, following which they stabbed him multiple times on the stomach and chest before fleeing the spot.
Local residents alerted the police and rushed Hamid to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police registered a murder case and apprehended the minors after a preliminary investigation.
