The Gamdevi police have arrested two youths for submitting forged documents while applying for visas to South Korea.

The Gamdevi police have arrested two youths for submitting forged documents while applying for visas to South Korea. Police said the two, both aged 25,had also sought work permits to work in a firm there.

The duo, identified as Mukesh Chauhan and Pralad Chauhan, had submitted forged bank statements and documents regarding their current place of work. The officials at the Consulate of South Korea had detected the fraud and registered a forgery case on Wednesday. The police arrested the duo and their agent, one Ravi Kumar Nirvana who was allegedly responsible for submitting the documents at the consulate.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone II) Anil Kumbhare said the youths had submitted documents claiming they had been working for a Mumbai firm, which the officials found to be fake. They had also found that the bank statements submitted were also forged. The police arrested them when they went to the Consulate on Thursday to complete the formalities. “We suspect that the agent might be running a racket of sending people abroad with forged documents. We’ll probe if the agent has sent aspirants to foreign countries.”
