16-yr-old boy booked for ‘pushing down’ girl from 30th floor: Mumbai police

According to police, the two minors quarreled over some issue on the day of the incident, which led to the girl’s death.

“We are registering an FIR on charges of murder against the minor boy as our investigation has revealed that the minors had a fight and the boy ended up pushing the girl down the building,” a senior police officer said.

The officer said that the FIR is being registered based on the statement of the Investigating Officer of the case.

The incident took place around 6 pm on June 24 when the girl had gone to meet the 16-year-old boy, who was her friend and had earlier studied with her in the same school.

The duo went to another wing of the building where he was staying and were standing in the lobby of one of the top floors, police said.
After sometime, the girl fell down from the building.

The boy had then told the police that she was under academic pressure and he had left after talking to her.

The girl’s family, however, told the police that she was doing well academically.

An official said that they scanned CCTV footage from the society, used dummies to determine the trajectory of someone who may have fallen as against if someone was pushed.

“This, coupled with the questioning of the minor, led us to the conclusion that the girl was pushed down the building. The duo fought over some issue that eventually led to the incident,” an official said.
