13 party workers held for celebrations

Thirteen party workers were arrested by the Kherwadi police on Monday for celebrating outside the District Collector’s office without adequate permission.

Thirteen party workers were arrested by the Kherwadi police on Monday for celebrating outside the District Collector’s office without adequate permission. Workers and members of Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party were arrested under the Bombay Police Act (BPA) under Sections 628 and 629/01 for playing dhols outside the District Collector’s office. They were celebrating after their candidates filed the nomination papers.

Six of the workers were from the Samajwadi Party who were supporters of Abu Asim Azmi who filed his nomination for the Mumbai North West constituency,while the seven were BSP men who were supporters of Sheikh Ibhrahim Ghulam Ali who filed his nomination for Mumbai North Central.

“They were arrested for playing the Nashik Dhole without taking any permission,” said Senior Police Inspector V Mestri from the Kherwadi police.
