12 killed in highway accident

As many as 12 people,including two kids,were killed when a truck and a Tata Sumo collided in Nagothane,Raigad,on the old Mumbai-Goa Highway on Friday.

As many as 12 people,including two kids,were killed when a truck and a Tata Sumo collided in Nagothane,Raigad,on the old Mumbai-Goa Highway on Friday.

The condition of three injured are reportedly critical.

SP (Raigad) RD Shinde said the accident occurred early on Friday morning between Kolad and Wadkal. The Sumo was carrying 15 persons,members of two families on way to attend a wedding in Khed.

“The SUV driver,Kamlesh Pardhi (28),could not control the vehicle. He died on the spot. We have arrested the truck driver,Abhiman Ambadas Sangle (29),for rash and negligent driving.”

Ravindra Gangaram Kokre (40),wife Meena (35) and children Darshan (12) and Raveena (10) along with Kokre’s niece Vaishali Dhebe (30),husband Vilas (32) and son Harsh (5) had left from their residences in Ghatkopar and Chembur on Thursday night. But,only Raveena and Vilas survived the accident.

Sanjay Jaigade (33),Dattatray Hambhir (38),Anant Jagdale (35),Prakash Gavandkar (40),Vinod Gavandkar (32) and Sakubai Mangle (60) are the other deceased.
