A motorcyclist was killed after being knocked down by a speeding tempo at Marve Road in Malad late on Saturday.
Malwani police said Aysen Vicky Avit Martis, 32, a resident of Mira Road, was travelling from Aksa to his house. A speeding tempo travelling in the opposite direction collided with his bike, causing Martis to fall on the divider. People took Martis to a hospital but he was declared brought dead.
The tempo driver Ramji Yadav (52) was nabbed by eyewitnesses. Police have booked Yadav, a resident of Kandivali, for causing death by negligence.
“Yadav was speeding,” said A Shaikh, senior police inspector of the Malwani police station. The police have seized the tempo. “We have written to the BMC to install a signal on the road,” said Shaikh. This is the third accident on the same road. Residents have been requesting the BMC to install a signal at this spot. A pregnant women had been killed near the same spot three days ago.
