Trade On!

Canada invites Indians for business partnerships

There may be countries that would prefer closed economies in times of recession. But not Canada. We indeed look at it as an opportunity for expansion,” says Kevin G Lynch,Clerk to the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet,Canada, who’s touring India to promote cross-cultural business. With Chandigarh as the second stop after Delhi,Banglore and Mumbai will be next,“I want Indians to benefit from our huge natural-resource base and technology that makes extraction of oil,gas and coal possible under all weather conditions.” Lynch says that while Canada can also contribute with its exceptional service sector, from India they want to take back the wealthy culture. “Of the total 33 million in Canada, the Indian population is 900,000 and we want the figure to rise,” Lynch says while students are always welcome, this time trade ministers of both the countries are looking at business prospects as well. Probably, that’s why Federation of Indian Industries,CEOs of companies and governments are working towards the goal.

‘’Economic partnership’ is emerging as the new buzzword and we can make trade ties stronger,” Lynch walks around the Le Corbusier Centre,Sector 7,and stops to look at sketches of the Canadian Centre for Architecture,Montreal,Canada. “We also want an exchange of architectural designs. While Canada has shown immense property development and has fashioned designs that are perfect for weather conditions varying from plus to minus 30 degrees,India has designs of famous architects like Le Corbusier and Charles Corea. A blend would be apt,” he sums up on a positive note.
