Justice seems to be finally coming the way of Narinder Singh,a resident of village Rangiyan. Narinder Singhs son Hardeep Singh,a medical practitioner in the same village, was killed in 2005. As per the father, some of the local police officers had killed his son. After the intervention of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and an inquiry conducted by the Ludhiana Sessions Judge,an FIR under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC has been registered against the then SHO Amarjit Singh,ASI Jaswant Singh and head constable Kabul Singh. This FIR was lodged on Saturday evening.
Fighting for justice,Narinder Singh approached the High Court to intervene after the local police shut the case stating that Hardeep Singh had escaped from their custody. ACP Narinderpal Singh ACP (Sadar) said,This case dates back to 2005 when the SHO booked Hardeep Singh under the NDPS Act. Hardeep was arrested and later an FIR was filed by the same police claiming that Hardeep had escaped from their custody.
Singh adds,During the same time,a body was found in the village pond. The body was decomposed and beyond recognition. The village people performed the last rights claiming it to be an unidentified body. However,Narinder Singh claimed that the body which was passed off as that of an unknown person was actually that of his son. Subsequently,he knocked the door of the HC and the inquiry to then sent to the Ludhiana Sessions Court.
ACP Narinderpal Singh added,The court found that the police had not taken any photographs of the dead body or fingerprints. No evidence from the body was kept before consigning it to flames. The court felt that in such circumstances,an FIR of murder could be lodged against police officers which we have done. No arrests have been made in this case so far.
