Three elderly men arrested with opium

The Model Town police on Friday arrested three elderly people and allegedly recovered 500 gms of opium from their possession. Inspector Davinder Chaudhary ,SHO said in the first case police had arrested Som Pal (61) of Sanjay Nagar and Shiv Das (60) of Nandpur in Uttar Pradesh and recovered 250 gm opium from their possession. The accused allegedly confessed to having procured the opium from Uttar Pradesh and allegedly wanted to sell it to drug addicts in the state. Later, their accomplice Som Pal (62) of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh was arrested at the railway bridge near Atam Park and 250 gm opium was allegedly recovered from his possessions. Police have a registered a case against the trio and are investigating.
