Teachers protest contract hiring

The Democratic Teachers Front on Wednesday organised a protest dharna at the Mini Secretariat.

Addressing the protesters,Mahinder Singh Kamalpura,president of DTF,said,“The Punjab government should appoint teachers on regular basis and not on contract basis. It is not fair for the the good academic atmosphere.” The members of DTF also protested against Krishan Kumar,Director General of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan,Punjab.

Jarnail Singh,general secretary of DTF,said,”The DG,SSA has started ‘Padho-Punjab’ in government schools with the help of Pratham,a non-government organisation. But it is a matter of grave concern that an NGO is doing many activities in the schools and interfering in the educational set up of the state. It should be stopped.” Many others also addressed the dharna.
