Teacher shot at outside school

Harpreet Kaur,a teacher at Government High School,Raonta village,Moga,was shot at by two motorcycle-borne gunmen on Monday.

Harpreet Kaur (35),a teacher at Government High School,Raonta village,Moga,was shot at by two motorcycle-borne gunmen on Monday. The victim received gunshot injuries in her right eye and right leg. A resident of Ludhiana,Harpreet used to commute everyday to Moga by a car.

The injured teacher was rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital where the doctors attending to her stated that she was critical.

A resident of Ludhiana,Harpreet used to commute daily to Moga by her car. On Monday too after the school closed for the day,Harpreet was walking towards her vehicle when the two youths opened fire. Some farmers working in the nearby fields sounded an alert.

A senior police official said,“The investigations are on. The driver of the car has told that the youth who shot at her were clean shaven. He is unable to tell much as every thing happened too fast,but claims that he would recognize the assailants.”

This is the second case of broad day shooting in the last 15 days. On February 14,Gurjant Singh (25) was shot dead as he was walking out of the factory where he worked. Six persons have been arrested and the police have claimed that personal enmity was the reason behind killing.

Queried about the deteriorating law and order situation,city SSP Inderbeer Singh,said,“The last murder case has been solved. We hope to resolve this case soon. We will talk to the teacher’s family also.”

Asked whether the youth could be students of the school,the SSP said,“As of now we can not say anything. We get some clues after meeting the family.”
