Students of PAU school have a busy day as teacher gives live demonstration of solar eclipse
With the sun shining bright in Ludhiana after a few foggy and cloudy days, the sky was in perfect shape on Tuesday to treat sky-gazers in Ludhiana with a spectacular solar eclipse.
It was a special day for the students of PAU Senior Secondary Model School, where they were given a live demonstration of the phenomenon. National award winning science teacher Kusum Lata showed her students the solar eclipse through different methods.
I prepared a special telescope for my students with the help of the reflector of a microscope,a simple mirror and two lenses of different focal lengths. First I explained the students as to how a solar eclipse takes place and then I showed it to them live through this telescope, she said.
The students were also provided with solar filters to have a look at the eclipse. Kusum Lata said: I got these filters from VIPNET (Vigyan Prasar Network),Delhi. Many used the telescope while others saw the eclipse through reflectors through which images of the eclipse could be easily observed on walls. I also used a magnifying lens to show the solar eclipse to students.
She said it was the idea of Sanjeev Thapar, principal of the school,to give a live demonstration of the solar eclipse to students.
