The manager of Shingar Cinema,a single-screen theatre which was once the favourite spot for city residents near Kashmir Nagar bridge, was shot at and looted in broad daylight on Friday. Last year too,he was looted.
Gurdas Singh,50,was shot at by two miscreants who were on a motorcycle. They fled away after looting Rs 3.70 lakh from him.
Luckily, the bullet pierced through the left leg of the manager. After he was rushed to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH),he survived and doctors have now declared him out of danger.
On December 25,2012,two miscreants had thrashed Gurdas near Zone-B office of Municipal Corporation and looted Rs 1.90 lakh from his possession.

Despite the fact that there is heavy traffic on the Shingar Cinema road, the easy escape of the accused has raised questions about the efficiency of the police.

The victim is also the accounts manager of a filling station owned by Shingar Cinemas Gurcharan Singh.
Around 12.45 pm,Gurdas was going to Oriental Bank of Commerce near Baba Than Singh Chowk on his motorcycle to deposit Rs 3.70 lakh in the account of the filling station. As he reached near Kashmir Nagar Puli, two motorcyclists coming from the wrong side stopped him and tried to snatch the bag from him.
The miscreants opened fire at Gurdas that hit in his left leg. He fainted on the road and the accused fled after snatching the bag. Some people tried to chase the miscreants, but they escaped brandishing the gun in the air.
