Rural infrastruture to be upgraded: Gabria

Hira Singh Gabria,Jails,Tourism,Cultural Affairs,Printing and Stationery Minister,today said that the state government had chalked out a comprehensive programme to upgrade the infrastructure in rural areas. He said that the government had already sanctioned rural infrastructure development plan of Rs 555 crore,under which all the basic amenities including sewerage,water supply,roads,streetlights etc. would be provided in all the villages and towns of the state.

Gabria was addressing a meeting to review the sewerage and water-supply projects of Sahnewal of concerned officers at the Circuit House today. He said Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh had sanctioned Rs 6 crore for the sewage and water supply project for Sahnewal in the Sangat Darshan programme.

He said that Rs 50 lakh had been released for completion of water supply project of Sahnewal and tender had been allotted and work would start within 10 days. He also informed that the sewerage project would be started within two months. He urged the officials of the sewerage board to complete all formalities and plans at the earliest,so that the work could start in time.

Among others present in the meeting were J S Bhattal,Superintendent Engineer,Water Supply,Jagdev Singh Gohalwaria OSD,Bhushan Singh Rana,Executive Officer,Nagar Panchayat,Sahnewal,and Suresh Arora,ME.
