Private firm alleges loss of Rs 5 crore because of MC

Lashing out against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation,a private construction company on Wednesday alleged financial losses because of wrong demolition done by the civic body.

A complaint regarding the demolition of a part of an under-construction shopping mall on Hambran Road was made to the Ludhiana Police Commissioner against the municipal corporation.

Harish Gupta,director,Garg Infrastructure Private Limited,alleged that a shopping mall being built by his company was demolished by Assistant Town Planner Rajinder Sharma under influence of the owner of a neighbouring building.

The complaint letter stated that the owner of the adjoining building started interfering in the construction work and thus influenced the municipal corporation officials to take action against his building.

He alleged that the municipal corporation on Tuesday demolished the side walls of the mall that resulted in the collapse of the entire roof of the building,causing a loss worth Rs 5 crore.

“We want action against municipal corporation and ATP after a proper inquiry by municipal commissioner and police,” said Gupta at a press conference.
