PPCB intensifies pollution drive

The Punjab Pollution Control Board has intensified its pollution control campaign,with six of its teams raiding 26 industrial units in Ludhiana.

The Punjab Pollution Control Board has intensified its pollution control campaign,with six of its teams raiding 26 industrial units in Ludhiana.

The PPCB teams raided various industries located on the Tajpur Road,Bahadur Ke Road,Rahon Road and Focal Point and found five of them violating the various pollution norms. While Sunny Scientific Dyer on Rahon Road was not operating its effluent treatment plant (ETP),four others were not recording energy meter,water meter and chemicals used for running the ETPs.

Two other industries,whose ETPs were on the banks of Buddha Nallah,were found to have not made them operational yet,said a statement issued by the board.

The raiding teams were headed by board engineers N S Manshahia,R K Nayar,R K Goyal,Paramjit Singh,Tejinder Kumar and Avtar Singh.
