In a major crack-down on drug peddlers,the Ludhiana police have been able to seize 79 kg of poppy husk in one go. The Division No. 7 police have recovered 40 kg of poppy husk from one Mekah Singh after raiding a flat in Sector 32 situated on Chandigarh road. In another raid,the police party from the same police station recovered another 19 kg of poppy husk from from Sukhdev Singh. This raid took place near Mundian Kalan.
Meanwhile,the Sahnewal police has seized 15 kg of poppy husk from one Raju,who hails from Agra but is currently residing in village Ramgarh.
Harjinder Singh,SP City (3),under who jurisdiction this read falls says,We can not say that the supply of drugs to the city has increased. It is just that the police is more alert now.
Singh added,Of late,people to have gained confidence in the police and they keep informing us about these peddlers. Depending upon the correctness of the information,we act and till time very good results have emerged. These kind of raids help in boosting the confidence of both the police and the informers.
Meanwhile,in another catch,the Sadar Police has caught 1 kg opium from one Paramjit Singh,a resident of Akalgarh Channa village. While the Model Town police too have caught one Sheru Singh with 1 kg of ganja while the latter was crossing over a railway line near the Model Town extension.
