The ongoing war of words between PAU V-C Dr M S Kang and PAU Board of Management member Avtar Singh Dhindsa reached a flash point with the V-C seeking public apology from the latter.
While Kang could not be reached,Dhindsa has confirmed receiving such a letter. He said,”I have not seen the letter as I am not in the town but my wife read out the contents of the letter over the phone. The V-C has sought apology which I will not tender as I am a member of the board and it is well within my right to question the V-C and get my doubts cleared.”
Dhindsa said,”According to the V-C,my remarks to question the appointment of Dr Harjit Singh as ADR terrorised the latter as he refused to take up the job. Had such been the case, then why did Dr Singh not file a complaint against me? ”
Dr Harjit Singh’s appointment has been done in absentia,to which Dhindsa had taken strong objections against. It has also been learnt that Dhindsa has been demanding action against the woman employee who has filed a complaint of sexual harassment against DSW Dr Dulcha Singh Brar. Explaining this,Dhindsa said,”In the last board meeting,PAUTA had come up with a CD in which the complainant had recorded her statements against the faculty members of the university. They demanded that the complainant should not be given any further extension and that the same should be put in the proceedings of the next BOM meeting. This did not happen and I had raised a question as to why the proceeding was not incorporated.”
