PAU,police differ on status of crash case

The Ludhiana Police seem to have wrapped up a case even before investigation started.

Cops insist compromise reached

The Ludhiana Police seem to have wrapped up a case even before investigation started. The case pertains to the SUV driver who rammed his speeding vehicle into a college wall on Monday, damaging a Zen car of a faculty member.

While on the first day,the police were not ready to identify the owner of the SUV,although he was standing on the spot,on the second day ASI Paramjit Singh, who is handling the case, summed up the case status in one word — compromise. Before he could be told that the complaint from PAU stands,he added,“The complaint which was filed has been amicably settled and there is no other complaint on this issue.”

But the university authorities hold a different point of view. Dr Gurkirpal Singh,Estate Officer,PAU,says,“There was one complaint filed by the lady faculty member whose Zen car was badly damaged and another complaint given by PAU. The lady officer has reached a compromise with those people but our complaint on rash driving stands, and let’s see what sections the police applies to this driver.”

Also clarifying the university’s position regarding Katrina-Akshay Nite on December 12,Dr Gurkirpal Singh has said in a statement that the management of the organising party had sought the venue of PAU Mela Ground for celebrating the 3rd anniversary of a newspaper.

“On the basis of this request, the allotment of mela ground was made. The newspaper management never mentioned in their request letter about the participation of Bollywood filmstars and singers in this function. The PAU was no way involved in the organisation of this function.”
