PAU pensioners upset over delay in payment of dues

The pensioners said that despite the PAU receiving funds on time, the dues were yet to be paid.

An emergency meeting of the executive council of the PAU Retirees’ Welfare Association (R) was held on Tuesday. The pensioners rued the non-payment of three instalments of LTAs (Leave Travel Allowance) that were due in January 2014, July 2014 and January 2015 and also non-payment of pension for January 2015.

The pensioners said that despite the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) receiving funds on time from the Punjab government, after a meeting of the pensioners with Maheshinder Singh Grewal, advisor to the Punjab CM, the dues were yet to be paid. The pensioners had met Grewal in April last year during the run up to the Lok Sabha polls. He had reportedly promised that the dues will be cleared soon.

General secretary Satish Sood said that a general body meeting will be held on February 9 at the Students’ Home, PAU.

The executive council will put forth a resolution with regard to the further course of action against the non-payment of LTA as promised almost a year ago.
