Accusing the S A N Jain Senior Secondary School,Daresi,of denying admissions to their wards in non-medical stream, several parents staged a protest against the school authorities on Thursday.
The parents alleged that the school denied admissions to their children in non-medical stream in Class XI on the pretext that they were weak in studies.
The school, however, admitted the children in the said stream after taking an undertaking from them stating that if the children fail to perform, the school would not be responsible for the same.
It was in April that our children were admitted in the non-medical stream. But,now the school authorities asked them to shift to the Arts stream on the plea that their marks are not good, said a parent.
School Administrator Satish Goswami, however, said: In April,we gave provisional admissions to children in Class XI non-medical. Their Class X results were declared in June. As their marks were low,we advised them to shift to Arts stream,to which they did not agree. We also conducted a Class X- level test of these nine students.
Adding that all children failed the test,Goswami said: We suggested that they be shifted to the Arts stream as their poor performance would affect school results. But,the students as well as their parents remained adamant. We have now allowed all nine students to continue in non-medical stream after taking an undertaking.
Goswami added: The teachers take extra classes for weak students. And these students will also be given extra coaching. But if they fail even after all our efforts,we will not be responsible.
