In yet another incident of road rage, two men fired four shots at a senior journalist,Kulwant Singh, who works with Punjab Kesri in Ludhiana. He,however, escaped unhurt. Kulwant, along with his wife and children, was returning home from a wedding when the incident took place around 10 pm on Sunday.

“When they reached Jagraon bridge,a motorcycle scrapped past their car. The two parties were involved in a heated discussion, bringing the traffic on the bridge to a standstill. Two other men,who were on a motorcycle, then approached them, demanding to know why the traffic was blocked. They were under the influence of liquor and started abusing Kulwant. One of them took out a revolver,” said Division Number 2 SHO Surinder Mohan, who is investigating the case.

The two are Jasvir Singh and Gurbax Singh. Just as Jasvir took an aim at Kulwant,Constable Yashpal Singh reached the spot and tried to stop him from firing. Jasvir still managed to fire four shots, though all of them missed the target, said the police. The two men were arrested and produced in a local court on Monday. They have been sent to judicial custody. The police have also seized the revolver used in the incident. Kulwant sustained minor injuries in the scuffle.
